Alexander Hernandez, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2020 at the Cedar Bluff Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility, surrounded by his family. Alex was born on March 18th, 1937 in Dallas, Tx to the parents Domingo Hernandez and Porfiria Macias. Being apart of a family of 13 had many challenges as well as benefits growing up, happiness shared in many ways as with ages so close as well as older siblings showing Alex what family means. Alex always spoke of his many memories and adventures with brothers Alfonso, Jesse and Winfield as well as memories of his sisters so vibrant and full of life. As Alex reached the teen years, it became clear for him to step up in where his father might be away, making the tough choice to leave school to work and fill a void and assist in bringing money in to help his family each day. Farming provided opportunities and knowledge that would stay with him all his years, even creating his own garden for his family. When an offer was made to farm in the state of Arizona near a small town called Wilcox, he took the chance and worked with dedication overseeing the crops from seed to harvesting for his employer. Alex living locally around Wilcox, and eventually joined the National Guard and presented carrying the flags as color guard for official events in the local town. At this time, he would come to meet what would eventually be the love of his life, Mary Jane Torres a graduate from Wilcox High School. Their paths crossed at various times in a small town where athletic events, movies and eateries were the social scene back in the day. As time went by Alex then chose to join the Marines to enhance his ability and defend his country if needed and learn a skill and expertise in Diesel Mechanics, this life choice would take him to places such as Japan and Taiwan in his four years of service. After the conclusion of Alex’s service, he would come back to Wilcox and marry Mary Jane, in 1962 and move to Dallas, Tx and begin his family there and then move outward to a small city named Red Oak. They shared many family vacations back to Wilcox to visit our Nana Lugarda and Tata Tony over the summers. The two were married for 57 years. Alex enjoyed hunting and fishing and family gatherings on the holidays and great card games such as Shanghai and Texas Hold em, he loved and designated himself as the official Bingo caller any time we played. To know Alex was someone that would always help fix anything and we recall many friends or family members that might need a quick assessment and repair of anything auto related or equipment. He was always busy and always seemed to be a worker bee or fisherman from sun up to sun down.

Alex is survived by his loving family, wife, Mary Jane Hernandez of Oak Point, TX; son, Stanley Hernandez and wife Rosemary of Sacramento, CA; son, Vincent Hernandez and wife Tonya of Keller, TX; son, Patrick Hernandez of Red Oak, TX; son, Tim Hernandez and wife Angelina of Oak Point, TX; son, Stephen Hernandez and wife Elise of Waxahachie, TX; sister, Rosa Reyes of Dallas, TX; sister, Rachel Reyes of Cedar Hill, TX; brother, Winfield Hernandez; brother Domingo ( Tito ) Hernandez of Dallas, TX; brother, Margarito ( Mac ) Hernandez of Austin, TX; and Grandchildren, Aaron, Joshua, Brittany Castro, and husband Andres of Murphy, TX, Nathan, Preston, Alex, Hunter, Kylie, Alexa, Anthony, Adin, Michael, Austin, Mary, Peter, and Christine; and Great Grandchildren, Ava, Deagan, and Elijah.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo and Porfiria Hernandez, sister, Jovita; sister, Anita; brother, Alfonso; sister, Ophelia; brother, Jesse.

His generous heart and love for family will be missed and forever remembered by those who knew him. The love he shared, and received by all, is a love that will never be forgotten. We Love you Dad.
