Obituary for Ann Graham Allen

Ann Graham Allen, also known and loved as Mamie, peacefully passed away among her family in Waxahachie on Monday August 22, 2022. Ann was born on March 4, 1938 in Waxahachie and graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1956. She attended Southern Methodist University and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Ann lived life to the fullest, loving nothing more than spending time with her adored family. She was a fourth generation Waxahachian and took pride in her family’s rich heritage in the community. She was a lifelong member of Central Presbyterian Church.

She was a mom and Mamie above all else. She loved people and her various occupations as teacher, shop keeper, Director of Christian Education and antiques dealer allowed her to give of herself to others throughout her life. Ann enjoyed all holidays and loved decorating for and hosting holiday gatherings with flair. She was a voracious reader and an animal lover.

She recently returned from the 50th year of family vacation in Galveston. She loved nothing more than making drip castles on the beach with her grandchildren, looking for shark’s teeth with her girls, drinking coffee in the morning and playing Yahtzee on the deck and sharing her love of the beach with friends of all ages.

Ann is survived by her family, Susan, Bryan and Louie Cravens, Becky and Butch Lowry, Kristen, Stephen, Kemble and Graham Hayslip, Tres, Jakee, Hamilton and Henderson Lowry, Jill, Buster, Emily and Callianne Buie, and Jessica and Aidan Bristow and numerous beloved grand-dogs. We would be remiss if we failed to also mention the numerous cherished friends who were like family to her. She was preceded in death by her parents Emily Kemble Graham and Charles Richardson Graham, and her former husband Bevely Wayne Allen.

The family will receive friends at the Patrick family home on Friday, August 26 from 6-8 pm.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3PM Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Central Presbyterian Church in Waxahachie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of Sims Library or Texas Parks and Wildlife (www.tpwd.texas.gov/business/donations), or the charity of your choice.
