Obituary for Ann Claire Maher

Ann Claire Maher was born on October 5, 1936 to Clara and Arthur Tenhundfeld in Cincinnati, Ohio. She joined her Heavenly Father on July 8, 2022. Ann was a deeply spiritual woman who devoted much of her time to volunteer work. She could often be found delivering meals through Meals on Wheels, and volunteering at various parishes where they lived. She was a leader at Marriage Encounter Small Group of Greater Chicago. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was active in the Ladies Alter Society, and started Greeters Ministry and Small Faith Communities.

Ann grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio where she attended Seton High School. Her first date with her beloved husband, Ed Maher, was attending a New Years Eve party on December 31, 1952. This day was shared with Ed’s birthday. They were married 66 years. The couple enjoyed seven children, 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Her gift of crochet was displayed in the blankets she made for all her children and grandchildren. She treasured her time spent with family and was the family reunion organizer. She enjoyed traveling through North America, especially camping in Lena, Il. Ann also loved “The Sound of Music”. Affectionately known as Sweetie or Love, and Nana, she is remembered as loving and very sassy, especially with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Art and Clara Tenhundfeld; brothers Art Tenhundfeld and Jim Tenhundfeld; and grandson A.J. Maher.

Ann is survived by her husband Edward D. Maher, Jr; children Charles “Chuck” Maher and wife Sarah, Debbie Losey and husband Greg, Michael Maher and wife Jeanne, Susan Maher, Edward Maher III and wife Lori, Tim Maher and wife Nicole, and Kathleen Pierson and husband Kris “Fred”; grandchildren Heather Olson and husband Justin, Holly Wilmsen and husband Kevin, Kellie Eppel and husband Alex; Noelle Maher, Marie Johansen and husband Collin, Michelle Losey, Ryan Maher, Megan Maher, McKenzie Maher, Kristin Anderson and husband Brett, Lindsay Thomson and husband Ross, Dillon Maher, Anna Maher, Ami Maher, Ali Maher, Matthew Maher, Timmy Maher, Sammi Maher, Daniel Pierson, and Elena Pierson; great grandchildren Skylar Olson, Tristin Olson, Lucas Wilmsen, Jaxson Wilmsen, Isaac Wilmsen, Louis Eppel, Addy Johansen, Logan Johansen, Harper Anderson, Chandler Anderson, Porter Anderson, Tanner Thompson, Cam Thompson, Hayes Thompson, Paislee Maher, sister Dotti Lavato s well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, with Rosary at 7:00pm at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Chapel in Waxahachie.
