Obituary for Ann Valek

Ann Valek passed away in Ennis on November 21, 2020. She was born on December 18, 1925 in Penelope, Texas to Anton and Anna (Mensik) Gallia. She liked baking, sewing, working in the yard, dancing, and was known for her cream cheese rolls, strudels, and kolaches. She even won a blue ribbon at the State fair of Texas for her bread. She was a member of Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church and KJZT. She worked at Ennis Ginghams, Sam Davis Menswear, Stories Manufacturing, Donavan Galvany, and Lighters. She married George Frank Valek on June 2, 1947 in Penelope, Texas and later moved to Ennis.

Ann is survived by daughters, Georgie Ann Bryant and husband Michael and Theresa Darst and husband Daniel, grandchild; Michael Bryant and fiancé Chris; sister-in-law, Martha Gallia Willis, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Frank Valek; brothers, Tony Gallia and wife Edith, Jerry Gallia and wife Lillian and Ed Gallia; brother- in-law, Joe W. Valek and wife Margaret; and sister-in-law, Rosie Sulak and husband Justin.

A private family Graveside Service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, November 20, 2021 with Father John Dick serving at celebrant.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Layman’s Catholic Cemetery Trust.
