Obituary for Barbara Jean Duncan

Barbara Jean Duncan was born July 14, 1950 in Yolo County, California. She departed on December 1, 2022. Barbara grew up in Oregon, the child of migrant workers. She loved strawberry season; it was in the strawberry fields where she first met her husband, Elmer. For Elmer, it was love at first sight, but Barbara was not easily convinced. He eventually won her heart and the two were married February 12, 1965. They shared 51 years together. The couple raised 6 children Billy, Clifford, Shane, Lisa, Brenda, and Florence and enjoyed 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Barbara devoted her life to the care of others. A nurse, she was always the first one to care for her family. She sacrificed much to care of those she loved. She was stubborn and opinionated, but her family always came first. She was a collector of things and enjoyed combing thrift stores for treasures. Barbara was a voracious reader and delighted in reading romance novels. She enjoyed rock music from the 50’s and 60’s though her favorite artist was Elvis Presley. Her most favored place to be was anywhere as long as she was with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer Duncan; sons Billy Duncan, Clifford Duncan, Shane Duncan and daughter Lisa Duncan.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Brenda Traeger and Florence Duncan; brother Jerry Davis; grandchildren Lori Sundblad, Michelle George, Kentara West, Joe Duncan, Cody Duncan, Justin Duncan, Kylie Duncan, Jeremy Duncan, Raimey Duncan, Tyler Duncan; and 13 great grandchildren.
