I had the privilege of working with Van at the Shoe Place in Duncanville TX many years ago. It was my first job I had ever had. Van was like a second father to me at the time, as well as a friend, boss an mentor. Van had the greatest sense of humor and he tought me many important life skills needed in the high school years of life. I wish I had told him how much I appreciated his guidance at the time. Even though I have not spoken with the other employees, Tammy, Kim, Lisa and Debbie and others, I can assure you that we all felt the same about Van. He will be missed by all. Thank you for the wonderful memories Van. Don Robb.

I have been wanting to say something but I couldn't say it the day we said our last goodbyes. I didn't have the words or know how to say them..but I'm gonna try

Looking back, I find myself wondering …..Did I remember to thank him enough??
Thank him for all that he has done for me and Tron? For all the times he was by our sides helping and supporting us …..celebrating our successes and accepting our defeats.
Understanding our problems and teaching us by example. Showing us the value of hard work, good judgment, courage and integrity. What it means to be a father, husband and leader. I wonder.... did I thank him enough.
Thank him for the sacrifices he made.
For giving his family the very best, and for the simple things. Like laughter, smiles and love. Did I forget to show my gratitude for all these things he did? If I did, I'm sorry and thank you. I hope you know how much you meant to me and how much I will miss and love you. You always were there with a listening ear and loving heart. And I am hoping you knew all along, how much you meant to me. Words will never be able to express how thankful I am for being part of this amazing, loving, kind, and beautiful family you created.

I love you Van, and thank you!
