Obituary for Bernice Elmore (Matchett)

Bernice Doris (Matchett) Elmore, of Dallas, TX, went to be with her Lord on December
30, 2020 at the age of 97. She was born May 13, 1923 in Little Rock, Arkansas to
Clarence and Nora (Howell) Matchett.

Bernice was full of life; she brought joy and inspiration to those who knew her. She was
a woman of strength, determination, tenderness and great fun. Energetic and friendly,
Bernice gave people a warm welcome and sense of belonging. She had a love for
music and dancing, and a wonderful sense of humor. She found delight in life’s simple
pleasures, and practiced deep gratitude. Bernice adored her family and was a loyal
friend.

A devoted member of the Skillman Avenue Church of Christ, she loved her church and
actively participated in community life.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, David Elmore and Paul Elmore and
wife, Kim; four grandchildren, Mary Ashley Castillejos and husband, Michael, Buddy
Elmore and wife, Amanda, Kathryn Conley and husband, Devin, and Allison Elmore;
three great grandchildren, Emily and Javier Castillejos and Archer Conley; nephews
Richard Mason, Rusty and Michael Matchett, niece Suzy Hicks, and extended family.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, older brother Russell Matchett, and
loving husband of 63 years William H. Elmore, Jr.


A graveside service will be at 11:15 AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Bernice’s name to the Skillman Avenue Church of Christ.
