Betty Doss passed from this life and into Heaven on December 21, 2022 after a brave struggle with Alzheimers. She was 83 years old.
Betty was born on March 18, 1939, in Santa Monica, California, to Robert K. Banks and Barbara Lucille Banks. Betty was raised in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, Texas, and attended Adamson High School. Before she even finished her schooling, Betty began working as a dental assistant, which was to be her career until retirement.
Betty was a member of the Dallas County Dental Assistant Society, the Texas Dental Assistant Association, and the American Dental Assistant Association. She served as officer and on many committees, including President of DCDAS and Dental Assistant of the Year. Her longest working association was with Dr Lawrence Lee and his daughter Dr Jennifer Lee Scott in Dallas.
In 1968, she married Richard Wayne Doss and two years later gave birth to a son, Richard Robert Doss (better known as 'Bobby'). In 1970 the family moved to Maypearl, TX, where Betty lived the remainder of her life.
Betty had a creative soul, and expressed herself in many ways throughout her life: she enjoyed sewing, crafting, gardening, painting, decorating and collecting. She was a school booster and volunteered for many events in the Maypearl Independent School District. Betty loved gospel music, playing the piano, and singing in the choir. For many years she was a member of First Baptist Church in Maypearl, TX.
Betty valued friendship, and, though she was shy, it took very little coaxing to draw her into laughter and fun. Those closest to her have many memories to keep their hearts warm.
But Betty's greatest love was her family. A devoted daughter, a loving and generous mother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Kenneth Banks. She is survived by her only child, son Bobby.
Betty will be missed, and it is hard to imagine a world without her.
