Obituary for Billy Fred Jeffcoat

Billy Fred Jeffcoat passed away on December 14, 2022 after a short stay at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waxahachie, Texas. Billy was the youngest of 9 siblings. He grew up in Aubrey, Texas, went to high school in Pilot Point, and then moved to Waxahachie in 1950. Billy then began his 38 year long career at Flexsteel Industries where he upholstered furniture. In March of 1951, he married Betty Berend from Pilot Point.

First and foremost Billy enjoyed his family. The highlights of his life were his wife of 71 years, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alongside many friends, they created and shared lifelong memories at his lake lot where they fished, water-skied, jet-skied, pitched washers and smoked briskets. Additionally, Billy enjoyed his vegetable garden, going to garage sales, wood working and fixing things. He had a knack for being able to repair just about anything. He and Betty also enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren play baseball, football, basketball, and volleyball. They were staples at the local little league fields.

In his later years, Billy became famous, at least locally, for his custom homemade fishing lures made of recycled materials, each with a customized handmade box. Not only did Billy enjoy making them, he enjoyed sharing them with family, friends and in some cases, people he didn’t know. Receiving one always brought a smile to someone’s face as well as his. They are truly “works of art”.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jeffcoat of Waxahachie, daughter Debra Reeder and husband Bubba from Dickinson, Tx, son Terry Jeffcoat and wife Margie from Waxahachie, daughter Pam Zajicek, from Waxahachie, and long time family friend and neighbor, Martha Smith, also of Waxahachie. Additionally, there are 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

There will be a Rosary on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 5:30PM with visitation to follow from 6-8 PM at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie, Texas.
