Obituary for Bobby Wayne Gunn

Bobby Wayne Gunn of Whitney, Texas passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, February 13, 2022. He was born August 18, 1944 in Marlin, Texas to Bessie Tisdale Avery and Clarence Dwain Gunn. Bobby lived for 77 years, a loving husband and father, a hardworking provider, he survived long enough to know all 8 of his great-grandchildren. He married his wife, Louise Annette Gunn, of nearly 58 years on December 4, 1964. He is remembered and cherished by his wife and their three daughters, Lisa Gunn Huerta, Sheryl Gunn Huerta, and Tina Gunn. Bobby provided for his family working as a foreman at Houston Natural Gas by day and a custodian by night. He and Louise raised their family in Baytown, Texas. In their later years, they moved to Whitney, Texas, where the family had always loved to camp and fish. Bobby was a wonderful grandfather and will be missed dearly by his 6 grandchildren, who all hold fond memories of spending quality time with their good-humored “Papa”. His favorite pastimes included spending time outdoors, hunting, entering brisket competitions, sitting around a campfire with his family, and browsing for good finds at flea markets and garage sales to “wheel and deal” at his own flea market booth where he loved to socialize and visit with passerbys. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Bernice Strickland, and two of his grandsons, Jonathan Huerta and Andrew Huerta. He is survived by his sister, Margie Estes, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bobby was baptized in the Baptist faith when he was ten and kept the lord in his heart. His family is comforted to know that their father has returned to heaven and peace.
