Obituary for Brian Keith Heflin

On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Brian Keith Heflin, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 52. Brian was born February 2, 1970 in Pampa, TX to Kenneth Earl and Bettie Faye (Scroggins) Heflin. He and his family moved to Waxahachie, TX when he was five, where he attended school until receiving a baseball scholarship to college. It was while attending elementary school in Waxahachie, that he met his wife, Clycinda Penney. They remained connected throughout middle and high school in many ways, but it wasn’t until 25 years later that they would reconnect and fall in love. They married on May 2, 2015, bringing together their two families into one. His son, Marcus and daughter, Ariana (from a previous marriage to Mary Rivera Heflin) and her daughter, Casey.
After leaving college to help raise his children, he began a career in garage door installation and repair that lasted over 15 years. He was able to finally complete college last year and had started working in logistics. His true passion, however, was to serve God and to witness to anyone he knew or met about the love of Jesus Christ. He long dreamed of being a pastor of his own church. He entered a ministry program through Dallas Leadership Foundation in 2021 to start that journey. He loved the Lord God with all his heart and showed a passion for Christ by showing others love without bounds. Whether it was feeding hot meals to the homeless or distributing food/items with DLF, he always had a smile on his face and a kind word to those in need.
Brian was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Bettie Heflin. He is survived by his wife, Clycinda Heflin; son, Marcus Heflin; daughter, Ariana Green and husband, Michael; stepdaughter, Casey Penney; grandchildren, Gabriel and Nicolai Heflin, and Kyler, Kayleigh, Rory, Zayne, and Harley Green; brothers, Kelly Heflin Moses and wife, Pam, Kelly Hill, and Kenneth Heflin, Jr and wife, Rita, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held April 2, 2022 at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral home in Waxahachie, TX at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Children’s Medical NICU in Dallas or American Heart Association.
