Obituary for Cathy Coley Oliphant
Cathy Coley Oliphant was born December 4, 1948 to Vaudene and Harley Coley. She went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2022. Cathy spent her life in Waxahachie with her three siblings Bryan, Pat and Page; they developed a special, strong, lifelong bond with each other. That bond carried on to her beloved nieces and nephew, Danna, Kelly, and Jason. Cathy is remembered as bright and quick witted. She loved to laugh and encouraged silliness. She was the most loyal and trusting of friends. Cathy was truly beautiful both inside and out.
Cathy was an avid reader! If interrupted she would exclaim “The Queen is reading!”. A beloved pastime since her early years, her deep interest resulted in her growing into a highly intelligent adult. She experienced immense success professionally, first in her career with Southland Life Insurance Company, where she spent over 25 years. There was an event that occurred when Cathy discovered an error in underwriting during the development of a new product. This correction greatly benefitted her employer. Later she worked with the E-Reward Corporation of Dallas, as quality control of new computer products. Her last job was as a Relief Police Officer with the Waxahachie Police Department. She quickly rose from the ranks and was capable of any duty the position required. Cathy was with the department for eight years before retirement. A dedicated employee, she really enjoyed meeting hard challenges within her careers.
Cathy treasured her relationship with her husband Thomas. The couple enjoyed over 20 years together. They could often be found gardening at their home, where Cathy almost always kept her plants alive. Their time together was saturated in friendship and an abundance of love.
She is preceded in death by her parents Vaudene Hudson Coley and Harley Coley; infant son Rodney Kevin Green; brother Bryan Coley; and brother-in-law Lee Loyd.
Cathy is survived by her sisters Page Kimbrell and husband Warner, and Pat Loyd; nieces Danna Miller and Kelly Briseno; nephew Jason Kimbrell and wife Angie; several great nieces and nephews; and her beloved husband Thomas Oliphant.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11:00AM, also at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Chapel in Waxahachie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
