Obituary for C E Perry

Elaine Perry was born on October 18, 1946 to Doris and Everett Long in
Montgomery, Indiana. She passed December 11, 2022. Elaine Spent much of her life
behind the wheel of a cab, telling fish tales to passengers who had never heard
them before. Each new passenger was a fresh audience. She would start with the
truth and then her stories would become so wild by the end that it is not known if
even she knew they were made up. She had a vivid imagination. Elaine was happiest when she
was driving her cab, and after moving to Texas, 19 years ago, she loved to take her grandson
Kevin on car rides all around the area. Elaine married Emmett Steele and the couple had
three children, Michael, Timothy, and Elizabeth. They later divorced and after
some time she married Louis Perry. The two had no children and a short marriage.

Some of her children’s fondest memories are of her follies. Once while making the kid tuna fish
sandwiches, she didn’t spread the tuna around causing the filling to explode
everywhere when Michael smashed it, much to his amusement. Another instance
when she was commissioned to take a taxi passenger to Herington . She excitedly
got into her cab and headed out; 15 minutes later Larry came across the radio
asking where she was. Already halfway to the destination, but she had forgotten
her passenger. Her passenger lived right across from her cab company but in her
excitement, she hadn’t picked him up. Elaine also loved crocheting, reading books and playing on her computer.

Elaine is preceded in death by her mother Doris Marie Long; father Everett Merle
Long; and sister Debra Jensensky.

She is survived by her children Michael Allen Steele, Timothy Wayne Steele, and
Elizabeth Marie Lord; grandchildren Brian Lord, Shawn Lord, Steven Lord,
Remington Steele, Spencer Steele, April Steele, Ashley Steele, Kasie Steele and
Katelyn Steele, Tabetha East; great grandchildren Damien Lord, Ashton Lord, Grayson Lord,
Elijah Lord and Marie Lord.
