Obituary for David R. Kelley

David Ralph Kelley, age 72, passed on August 4, 2020 in Waxahachie, Texas. He was born March 17, 1948 in Dallas to his parents, Lillie Mae (Riley) and James David Kelley. Growing up as a kid, David was always busy doing something. He would leave in the early morning and not return home until dark. He worked as a lifeguard and loved finding scrap parts to build motor scooters. During his later years, David owned, Kelley Home Services for 55 years, providing top-notch services in Construction, Restoration, and Roofing. He loved listening to the Righteous Brothers, The Ventures and any blues music and enjoyed watching UFO shows and The Red Green Show and Pancho & Lefty. David loved his guitars and played them often. He also loved to paint, ride his truck around the property, but most of all he loved sitting on his back porch watching his grandkids play in the back yard. He was a good man that loved his family. He would help anybody that would come to him. David was a man with many nicknames, (DR, Red Dog, G-Pa) who really loved LIFE and just lived it freely!! Some of the greatest memories with his family were his stories; he could TELL SOME STORIES (tall tales really) that include- that he taught Roy Clark how to play, that he caught Shamu, that he was a fighter pilot and flew overseas, and that the Midlothian cement plants were airports, but one of the greatest memories was every Sunday morning; he would leave donuts and milk on his grandkid’s porches, ringing the doorbell and leave. David was a loving husband, father, and G-Pa who will be deeply missed by his family but leaves behind some of the best memories that they will cherish forever.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia Kelley; son, Kenneth Kelley and wife Cynthia; daughter, Shannon Kelley; 7 grandchildren, Crystal Santos and husband Rodolfo, Kenneth Kelley, Jr. and wife Rachel, Kimmi Bunch and husband Marcus, Crystan Mendoza, Autumn Arroyo and husband Noe, Justin Mendoza and wife Ciara and, Collin Dunn; 13 great-grandchildren, Dakota, Georgia, and Montana Santos, Easton and Kade Kelley, Lilah and McKenzie Bunch, Matthew, Mason and Maliki Herndon, and Aubrey, Adam and Adrian Arroyo; brothers, Mike, Steven and Johnny Kelley along with their wives and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Deanna Jean Kelley.
