Obituary for Dawson Garrett Gowin

Dawson Garrett Gowin was born on June 22, 2000 to Susan Hodges and Mark Gowin in Waxahachie, Texas. He passed away January 23, 2022 at the young age of 21.

Dawson was simply one of a kind. His huge heart and loving soul certainly made a mark on this world in his short 21 years. When news of his passing spread, hundreds of his friends and family began writing memories on his Facebook wall describing one of the greatest friends a person could have. Dawson would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, and would drop everything to help a friend in need, no matter the time of day. He was goofy, funny and loved to make people smile. He loved to hunt and fish from the time he was a little boy. If you ever saw a picture of Dawson, you would usually see him holding a big fish, sitting behind his buck, or showing off his pile of birds from a successful dove hunt.

Dawson was a hardworking, respectful country boy who was taken from this world too soon. He is going to be missed beyond measure by everyone who knew him.

Dawson is preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfather James and Betty Gowin, great grandmother Eva Mae Beaty, great grandfather Garland Beaty, aunt Linda Carrol Wixtrom and uncle Kerry Beaty, cousins Lisa Gail Mills, James Mills, Hayden and Hayven Mills, Logan Forester and Ace Jackson.

Dawson is survived by his mother Susan Hodges and father Mark Gowin, grandmother and grandfather Garland and Linda Beaty, sisters Chelsea Hodges and Peyton Hamilton, aunt and uncle Jennifer and Roger Williams, uncle Richard McMahon, niece Zailye Forbes, nephew Cyprus Graham, cousins Jalen, Jordan, Jacie and Madalynn and numerous other cousins.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Waxahachie Bible Church, in Waxahachie, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Waxahachie Bible Church, in Waxahachie, Texas.
