Obituary for Ann Schroeder

Ann “Mimi” Schroeder joined her Lord and Savior on February 21, 2023. She was born September 16, 1936 in Montgomery, Texas to Florence and Jack Hill. The baby of the family, Ann always wanted to emulate her older siblings. She grew up in Gilmer and Aldine, Texas, graduating from Aldine High School in 1954. She furthered her education at Sam Houston State University as a proud member of the class of 1958. Ann taught home economics in Dickinson and Texas City, Texas before retiring as a home economist at Texas/New Mexico Power. In 1959, Ann married her beloved husband, Cliff. The couple shared 46 loved-filled years, two children, two grandchildren, and countless dogs, before his passing.

Ann was a highly skilled seamstress and could often be found sitting behind her sewing machine. She enjoyed quilting for her family, and for high school seniors. She was an excellent cook – known for her sour cream poundcake, breakfast casseroles and chili bean casserole. Ann enjoyed watching shows The Price is Right, Chicago Fire, and the Hallmark Channel. She liked country music, especially George Strait and Kenny Chesney. Her greatest love was her family! She found immense joy in loving on her grandchildren and great grandchild – and her sweet puppy, Maxi.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Ann was a devoted member of Brown Street Church of Christ. She volunteered countless hours in preparation of Thursday Meals and Funeral Meals. It was her honor to help consult with their new church build.

She was preceded in death by her father Jack Hill; mother Flo Hill Gordon; stepfather Ken Gordon; sister Jackie Williams; brother Eddie Hill; husband Cliff Schroeder; and daughter Carol Browning.

Left to cherish Ann’s memory are her daughter Susan Kay; son-in-law Wayne Browning and wife Amy; granddaughters Taylor Schwalm and husband Adam, Jaci Pharis and husband Jake Pharis; great granddaughter Summer Schwalm and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for friends and family will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will he held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:00am at Brown Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie, Texas.
