Dolores Gail Hammonds-Bird was born October 10, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Roses and Elmer Hammonds. She entered into eternal rest on September 6, 2022. A sibling of ten children, she grew up in North Central Texas. She attended Waxahachie schools and was a long-time member of Southlake Baptist Church. Dolores will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Known to her friends and family as Dee or Birdie, she enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her dogs. Anytime someone came to visit, she loved to have her dog Rusty talk to them. She was an excellent grandmother, building forts with her grandchildren in the Livingroom with blankets and chairs. Dolores enjoyed country and gospel music, going to the zoo with her children, arts and crafts, and loved being at the river.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Joe Gordon Bird, grandson Jeffrey Gordon Graves, mother Roses Ella Peel Hammonds, father Elmer Jackson Hammond’s and numerous other family members.

Dolores is survived by her children Joe Gordon Bird Jr, Philip Jackson Bird, and Martha Gail Bird Graves; grandchildren Zackary Ray Allen Bird, Brian Alden Graves, Tyler William Graves, Joesy Kristine Bird Moore, and Larry Mackenzie Bird; great grandchildren Rebecca Marie Graves, Cedrick Graves, Elihu Stetson Wall, Cassius Ronan Mackenzie Bird and Everett Bird; and her many siblings.
