Obituary for Don Edward Tamez

Don E. Tamez, age 61, of Red Oak, passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2023. Don was born on May 3, 1961, in Waxahachie and spent his life in Red Oak. He was preceded in death by his parents, Regino and Jane (Fernandez); and brothers, Steven and Jimmy. Don is survived by his brother, Regino, and his wife, Judy of Dallas; Gearold and his wife, Cynthia of Dallas; his son, Aaron and his wife, Jessica of Waxahachie; his son, Sean and his wife, Kristen of Midlothian; his son, Joseph and his wife, April of Waxahachie; and daughter, Lauren of Latham, New York. Don is survived by his grandchildren whom he adored, nurtured and loved throughout their lives, Brayden, Mason, Logan, Sadie, Jack, Isabella, and Luke.

Don made a loving home for his children. As his kids grew up, his house was where all his children and their friends gathered. He took pride in caring for them and loved cooking them meals, earning the nickname, “Papa Don.” Don was always admired for his personality and lightheartedness; he always had a positive outlook on life, never met a stranger, and treated everyone as if they were family. It was not uncommon to find him relaxing on his front porch with friends, swapping stories and sharing laughs. There was nothing he loved more than being at home with his family, watching the Lifetime channel, and enjoying quality time with his kids. Don was a lifelong jeweler, and will be remembered fondly for the care and pride he took in his work.

There will be a memorial service conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home, 511 West Main Street, Waxahachie.
