Obituary for Don Kemp

Donald Everett Kemp joyously joined his Heavenly Father and his wife Lois on January 18, 2022. He was born to Adyleen (Bledsoe) and Henderson “Dick” Kemp on July 9, 1934 in Fort Worth, Texas. Donald grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas where he graduated from Roy Miller High School. He married Lois Marie McCoy on February 6, 1954 and the couple had three children Donna, Michael and Jill. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage until Lois’ passing. The two were an example to their children and all of their family of what marriage should be. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Donald began his career as an appliance parts salesman with the Standard Appliance Parts Corporation of Corpus Christi, Texas and retired from the Whirlpool Corporation of Houston, Texas. He enjoyed family gatherings, genealogical research, art galleries and church. He was a grandfather to seven grandchildren, nine great grand children, and two great -great grandchildren. Don was also an artist. He loved to paint; watercolors were his favorite medium. Notably, his favorite color was red. He was a member and volunteer at the Ellis County Art Association. Above all else, Donald was a faithful Christian and a long-time member of Brown Street Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents Adyleen and Henderson “Dick” Kemp; wife Lois Marie McCoy Kemp; grandson Kreg Jamison Kemp; and son-in-law Mike Lynn.

Donald is survived by his three children Donna David, Michael and wife Linda Kemp, and Jill Lynn; brother Richard Kemp and wife Martha; sister Shelley Kemp and husband Joe Goff; sister-in-law Bernice Lewis; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, January 24, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Brown Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie, Texas.

Funeral services will follow visitation on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 2:00 PM, also at Brown Street Church of Christ, in Waxahachie.
