Obituary for Esperanza "Hope" Maldonado

Esperanza “Hope” Maldonado will be remembered as a wife, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, an animal lover and a friend to many. Her humble legacy will live on in the lives of many whom she has known. Hope loved her husband Alvin, who has been her companion for 20 years. She loved her two children, Danny and Diana. Most of all she treasured her two grandsons Michael and Frank. She also loved her dog and cats and loved to cook. She would really shine when the two boys could come to eat.

Hope was an extremely loyal and hard worker that was loved by many of her co-workers through the years. She was well known to be extremely stubborn at times but will be more remembered for her love and true caring heart for those she worked closely with throughout her career.

She was one of ten children that learned very early how to provide for herself and to help others. She was a very resourceful person despite the lack of much formal education. Hope spent most of her life employed as a Seamstress.

She loved her flower gardens and spent much time manicuring her beautiful flowers which she loved so much. She was most at peace and ease during the times spent gardening and the times with Alvin at home and their outings.

Esperanza Maldonado is survived by her husband Alvin Sauceda; brother Roy Lira; children Daniel Maldonado, Jr. and Diana Merrell; grandchildren Michael Maldonado and Frank Merrell; as well as many nieces and nephews she loved as her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Felicita Lira; and siblings Jessie Luna, Joe Luna, Rosalia Luna, Guadalupe Escobar, Frank Lira, Lydia Torres, Davis Lira, and Robert Lira.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday February 23, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Funeral services will also be held February 23, 2022 at 7:00 PM, also at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Chapel in Waxahachie.
