Obituary for Florence E. Baurys Phillips

Florence E. Baurys Phillips, age 83, entered into peaceful rest on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on September 27, 1938 in a small coal mining town called Hanover Pennsylvania to parents Florence Elizabeth Eroh Carne and Sidney Carne. Florence graduated high school in 1956 and then attended nursing school to become a registered nurse. She married Thomas Baurys in 1959 and traveled with him as a military wife. With Thomas on active duty, they got to see and live in places like Niagara Falls, New York, Kincheloe, Michigan, San Antonio, Texas, and Weisbaden, Germany. While in Germany they explored Europe seeing places like Paris, France, Amsterdam, and Lisse, Netherlands. Upon his death, Florence relocated to Waxahachie, Texas and marries Louie Weldon Phillips.

She enjoyed many hobbies such as sewing, knitting, and oil painting. When her children were grown she focused on her writing talent and became a published author of two books. A childrens book, “A Spur For Christmas,” and a medical help book called, “A Time For Alzheimers.” In her later life she became an accomplished fisher woman and enjoyed many fishing trips with Weldon.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband Weldon, her 5 children Lori Baurys, Wendy René, Thomas Barys, Jeffrey Baurys, and Vicky Baurys, sister Gladys Kacmarski, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Thomas Baurys.

Her Funeral is scheduled for Friday, August 26, 2022 at 1 P.M. at Southlake Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Interment will follow at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 2 P.M. on September 1, 2022.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 2-4 P.M. at Southlake Baptist Church in Waxahachie.
