Obituary for Juanita Cooke

Frances Juanita (Ellis) Cooke was born December 28, 1927, at home in Maypearl, TX to Joseph Jefferson and Alice Amanda Ellis. She departed from this life March 29, 2022. Juanita was raised in Maypearl and was the baby of 7 children. Juanita was a faithful devoted Christian and long-time member at College St. and Brown St. Church of Christ. Juanita helped with the Tuesday/Thursday School; she was an elder’s wife for many years. She loved her grandchildren and was so excited the day she was told she was going to be a grandmother. She loved sewing, cooking, gardening, and she enjoyed watching the birds eat from the bird feeders.
Juanita is survived by two sons Layne Cooke and wife Anne of Arlington, TX and son Kevin Cooke and wife Sherri of Waxahachie, TX: grandchildren Branden Walker and wife of Austin, Ian Cooke, Kellen Cooke and Caitlin Cooke of Arlington, TX, Kasey Cooke of Red Oak, TX, and Taylor Cooke of Red Oak, TX. Numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 61 years Ralph Cooke who passed away on February 7, 2022, her parents Joseph and Alice Ellis, brothers Clarence, Walter, Elvis and Justin Ellis, sisters Maye Mitchell and Eddie Lee Mayfield Mazy. Sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Thursday Meals, c/o Brown Street Church of Christ, 2471 Brown Street, Waxahachie, TX 75165.
