Obituary for Gayle King (Blankenship)

She was born in Dallas, Texas on December 31, 1928 to Gladys Omega and Cecil Gayle Blankenship. She married the love of her life, J. W. King on July 24, 1944. They had three children they raised in Oak Cliff. In 1967 they moved to Waxahachie. She worked at Mott’s and Wal Mart in her later years. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother and Granny. Her family was her everything. She helped anyone she could and loved everyone like family. She had the most precious soul and a kind and caring heart. She is survived by her daughters, Ellyce King and Linda Speer and husband Philip Coe of Waxahachie, sister Gayle Jones and husband Martin of Richardson, grand children Denise King and Marc Smith of Waxahachie, Misty Woodhall and husband Andy of Dallas, Paul Jones and wife Rebecca of Rowlett, Paula Gayle Coleman and husband Ian of Ennis, Amy Hedgecock and husband Blake of Keller, Paul Norris of Tennessee, eight great grand children and one great great granddaughter and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, J. W. of 69 years, her son Jesse Gayle King, her mother Gladys Omega Armstrong Mann, her father Cecil Gayle Blankenship. Our love for you will always be in our hearts.

She had charities she thought were important and we think she would prefer donations made to those charities would be preferred to flowers: North Central Texas Meals on Wheels, The Dallas Arboretum, St. Judes Hospital, Texas Wildlife or The Disabled Veterans of America.

Visitation for family and friends will be held July10, 2022 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel, in Waxahachie.

Graveside services will be July 11, 2022 at 2:00pm, at DFW National Cemetery.
