Obituary for Leon Hiett

Herbert Leon Hiett, age 92, entered into the presence of Christ on Sunday, May 30, 2021. He was born on August 7, 1928 to Katie Mae Hall and Edgar Allen Hiett. Music permeated every part of his life and was his best when he was in front of a keyboard. A musician since age 4, he played the pipe organ, keyboard, and piano. He also worked on and repaired those instruments. He attended Dayton Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio where music continued to be the center of his life. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #1274 of Dallas-Love Field.

Left to cherish his memories are his son Daniel Hiett and wife Joyce, step-daughter Sunny Letot, son Joe Hiett and wife Mary, daughter Ruth Breugaman, son David Hiett and wife Nancy, daughter Naomi McEneely and husband Brian, son Joshua Hucker and wife Tracy, grandchildren Jennifer Hiett, Joshua Hiett and wife Heather, great-grandchild Nora Hiett and other grand and great-grandchildren and friend Carolyn Perkins.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Edith Hiett, as well as his 3 brothers James, Edgar, and Henry and 4 sisters Esther, Ruth, Ruby, and Katy Mae.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:30 PM with the service starting at 3:30 PM at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie with his interment to follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery.
