Obituary for Deacon Hugo Monsanto

Hugo Edmundo Monsanto was born February 22, 1950 to Anita Delepiani and Carlos Monsanto in Caracas, Venezuela. He joined the Lord on April 4, 2022. Hugo is remembered as loving, generous, and always willing to help others. He worked hard and was very humble. His quick wit displayed an excellent sense of humor.

Hugo grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, class of 1975 and made his career as an architect. A faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, he served as Permanent Deacon from 1992 until his passing.

Hugo married Marina in 1970. The couple have enjoyed 52 years together; they have three children Hugo, Bernie and Nicolas; and four grandchildren Abigail, Alex, Tyler, and Christian, to whom Hugo was known as Paw Paw. He was deeply devoted to his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Anita Delepiani and Carlos Enrique Monsanto; and his sister Luz Monsanto.

Hugo is survived by his wife Marina Monsanto; son Hugo Monsanto, wife Sloan and children Tyler and Christian; son Bernie Monsanto; son Nicolas Monsanto, wife Meghann and children Abigail and Alex; sister Beatrice Mata; sister Helena Ortiz; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation for family and friends will held Friday, April 8, 2022 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with Rosary at 7:00pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waxahachie, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:00am also at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
