Janice Lynn Peters was born on November 18, 1959, in Lafayette, Louisiana. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2022. Though she was born in Louisiana, she eventually came to Waco, Texas where, she lived most of her adult life. Janice was a sometime hairdresser, beauty school teacher, sometime factory worker and full time homemaker. She is remembered for her giving and sharing nature. At times she was stubborn, but no one would dispute that she had a heart of gold. Her smile was infectious.
Janice enjoyed spending her time helping others. She loved to cook, look for treasures in thrift stores, collect cookbooks, Barbies and lighthouses, and watch movies. She really liked watching Yellowstone; Rip was her favorite character. She listened to country and gospel music and enjoyed true crime programs and court TV. Christmas was her favorite holiday; she even had a little pink Christmas tree that she decorated every year. She loved the color pink.
Her big heart and caring nature are illustrated in the love she shared for others. Janice always gave 110 percent. She was a loving mother and regularly kept up with her pen pals from other states. A Baptist, she had a deep affection for her church, her pastor, and the ladies in her bible study group.
Janice was married to Kevin Peters for 19 years until they parted in 2003. The couple had two children, Jennifer Lynn Decker Peters and Krystal LaQuita Peters, of Waco. Most of all she enjoyed the role of grandmother to her grandchildren Justin Allen Peters and Noah Adam Coleman.
She is preceded in death by her parents Imogene and Johnnie Ingram; daughter Jennifer Lynn Decker Peters; grandson Noah Adam Coleman; sister Johnnie Hertzog; biological father Clyde Bunch; mother Imogene Ingram; and her beloved toy rat terrier Sadie.
Janice is survived by her daughter Krystal LaQuita Peters; grandson Justin Allen Peters; stepmother Evelyn Duffy; sister Joy Kelly; adoptive daughter Christina Castro; adopted granddaughters Celeste, Layla, Willow, and twins Melody and Melindia; and numerous friends and neighbors.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 12:00pm at the Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie, Texas. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Cemetery in Robinson, Texas.
