Obituary for J.B. Lance

J.B. Lance united with his Lord and Savior on December 29, 2023. Born in Bono, Arkansas to Sylvia (Morris) and Oakley Lance, he grew up in Trumann, Arkansas. J.B. furthered his education at the University of Texas in Arlington, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He retired from Tyler Refrigeration as a Controller after 35 years of service. A loving husband, father, and grand pa, JB took Frances Walker as his beloved bride in 1958, and the couple shared three children, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and 65 years devoted to each other.

J.B. is remembered as generous and friendly. He never passed up a chance to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, especially as they won the World Series. Golf was his favorite pastime and he enjoyed playing it as well as watching it. J.B. had five “hole in ones” during his lifetime, which was quite a feat. He could often be found relaxing in his recliner watching Clint Eastwood movies, Yellowstone, and Days of Our Lives – with his wife.

J.B. was a believer in Christ, who attended both Ferris Avenue Baptist Church and Longbranch Baptist Church. He gave back to his community, serving in the Optimist Club, and as President of Waxahachie Youth Baseball and Basketball Leagues.

He is preceded in death by his parents Sylvia and Oakley Lance; son Jeff Lance; and sister Jacqulin Lance.

J.B. is survived by his beloved wife Frances Lance; children Beth Fuller and husband Mike, Brian Lance and wife Melissa; grandchildren Jeff Lance and wife Leah, Micah Scott and wife Breanna, Eric Lance and Haylee Hayles, Jared Scott and wife Jessica, Haley Pfuntner and husband Jeremy; great grandchildren Knox Scott, Lane Scott, Harper Lance, Michael B.B. Lance, Ellen Scott, Scottie Lance, Smith Scott; brother Charles Lance; sisters Ann Poe, Cheri Rosales; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at The Avenue Church in Waxahachie, Texas Friday January 5, 2024. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00pm, with funeral service at 2:00pm. Internment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery.
