Obituary for Jenise Mary Balsamo (Debbrecht)

Jenise Mary (Debbrecht) Balsamo, age 69, passed away October 4, 2020 in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born on August 7, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to her parents, Vercilla (Clegg) and Joseph Debbrecht.

In 1969, Jenise started her career as a hairdresser not long after graduating high school. She worked for various salons and beauty schools. When she moved to Texas, she went to work for the Dallas Designs and was currently working at Head Rush in Waxahachie up until her passing.

In 1971, she started her journey in the restaurant business opening Pizza Pizza in Grafton, Wisconsin with her partner and soon to be husband, Phil Balsamo. On July 22, 1972, the two were married and continued to run their family owned business.

In 1982, they moved their family to Waxahachie, Texas and began their journey with Little Sicily Italian Restaurant. Everyone knew that Jenise was “The Boss”. Jenise was a hardworking and successful businesswoman who helped her husband run the restaurant, while continuing to work as a hairdresser and raise their 4 daughters. In 2017, she and her husband decided to retire from the restaurant business after 42 successful years. She also worked for their family owned business, Southern Frac until 2020.

Jenise loved church and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic. She was born and raised Catholic and believed highly in her faith. She loved her family, and her grandkids were her everything. She enjoyed baking, reading books, cookbooks, shopping, everybody else’s dogs and loved talking to her family. Jenise was a social butterfly who never met a stranger. She was loved and will be forever remembered and deeply missed by so many.

Left to cherish her memories is her loving husband, Mercurio “Phil” Balsamo; twin daughters, Michelle Munoz and Danielle Boston; daughters, Therese Edwards and husband Ryan and Angela Minter and husband Wade; grandchildren, Tyler Boston, A.J. Munoz, Michael Munoz, Bailey Boston, Mia Munoz, Brock Minter, Colt Edwards; sister, Jackie Kress; brother, Jim Debbrecht and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Joann D’ Acquisto.

A private rosary will be held at 5:00 P.M., Friday, October 9, 2020 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie. Visitation for family and friends will follow from 6-8 P.M.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Waxahachie Civic Center.
