Jennie Mae Wallace Pope was born on May 26, 1944 to Dollie and John Wallace in Dallas, Texas. She joined her Heavenly Father on June 29, 2022. Jennie grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas on Cockrell Hill Road, with her grandmother. She graduated Justin F. Kimball High School and studied Seminary at Fountain Gate College. She was married to her beloved husband Boyd Pope for 57 years before his passing. The couple had two children, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was affectionally known as Granny Mae.
Always willing to help others, Jennie was a member of the Eastern Star and of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. Before her retirement, she was a preschool director and bible teacher. She loved Elvis, sitting on the back porch, and the 1955 film, “I’ll Cry Tomorrow” starring Susan Hayward. She was wildly talented and enjoyed sewing, painting, crafting, and baking cakes. Her home was especially decorated for the holidays. She will be remembered as quite the feisty lady!
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Carl; and her loving husband Boyd.
Jennie is survived by daughters Peggy and Virginia; son in laws David and Charlie; grandchildren Tyler, Nick and fiancé Shelby, Hannah and husband Tommy, and Christopher; and great grandchildren Kaylie, Penny, Carly and Violet.
Graveside services will be held July 6, 2022 at 10:00am at Waxahachie City Cemetery.
