John Christopher Harrell, age 40, of Waxahachie, passed away after a long and courageous battle with melanoma on Monday, May 31, 2021 in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born on January 30, 1981, to parents Shelia Marie Allen and John Matthew Harrell. Chris lived life to the fullest and anyone who knew him could tell. He loved to travel, go sailing, explore caves, chase storms, and even backpacked Europe for 6 weeks. He enjoyed 23 years of companionship with his wife Jennifer who he married on May 20, 2005. For work, he was a software developer with Verizon for the last few years but was in the field for 20 years. He loved watching his Dallas Mavericks and was always a devout fan.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Jennifer, son John Alexander Harrell, father Matt Harrell and wife Phyllis “Tootie”, Mother-in-law Cindy Douthit, sister Laura Harrell and fiancé Nate Sublette, brother Colby Harrell, grandparents John and JoAnn Harrell, Bob and Martha Allen, mother Shelia Allen, as well as numerous friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to M.D. Anderson Hospital in Chris’ name.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 6-8 P.M. at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie.
