Obituary for Jose Martinez
Jose Angel Martinez was born in Rosebud, Texas on November 23, 1933 to Elvira Garcia and Manuel Martinez. He was called home May 2, 2020 at his home in Red Oak. He was strong in his faith and active in Parish Ministries where he attended throughout his lifetime. He was an active Leader in the Cursillo movement and in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for many years.
Family events were most important to Jose where he loved to voice words of encouragement, (sometimes lectures).
Jose loved conjunto folk music, enjoyed singing along and was a good listener. He was very proud of his heritage and his roots in Rosebud, Texas. He worked at Dallas Cap and Emblem as a Master Stitcher in the embroidery business for 27 years. Also, worked for the Dallas ISD for 14 years as a HVAC Tech.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Dora; children Elvira Martinez and Terry B., Jose Martinez, Jr. and Rachel, Linda Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Elisa Martinez, Vincent Martinez, Guadalupe Ortega and Glen, and Leticia Herrera and Lee; grandchildren Eliana, Natalie, Jose Angel III, Raquel, Mark, Richard, Ramiro, Eric, Giselle, Noah, Olivia, Sophia, Veronica, Andrew, Antonio, Manuel Jr., Christopher, Stephen, Elizabeth, Patrick, Alexander, Marissa, Austin, Ashley, Vincent Michael, Matthew and Brandon; 40 great-grandchildren; and brother, Alfred Martinez. Jose was preceded in death by his parents Elvira Garcia and Manuel Martinez, son Melchor Martinez, great great grandson Izador Flores and siblings Mike Martinez, Tina Ramirez, Charles Martinez, Guadalupe Luna and Elvira Castilleja.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 5, 2020, 5:00-8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:30 PM at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 6, 2020 at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waxahachie. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rosebud, Texas.
