Obituary

Josephine Ruth Simpson, age 85, passed away on May 1, 2020 in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born in Dallas, Texas on November 4, 1934 to her parents Launa Catherine Ragan and Francis Marion Simpson. She retired from Cedar Hill ISD, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was known as “grandma” to all the kids at the school. Josephine was an excellent cook and a very crafty woman. She enjoyed baking, painting by numbers, making hook rugs and doing embroidery. She loved playing bingo and taking care of her grandbabies. Josephine will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones.


Josephine is survived by her children, Catherine Lois Maddox, Steven Glenn Preston, Cheryl Elaine Preston and husband Lonnie Hale; grandchildren, Jason Matthew Garcia, Casey Issac Preston, Kyle Preston and Joshua Dean Hale; great-grandchildren, Khrystian Nathaniel Preston, Kyzer Lee Preston, Jerry Daniel Garcia, her sister Peggy Bannister, and numerous nieces and nephews.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Brothers, Gary Simpson, Douglas Simpson and sister, Maxine Bird, and great grand-daughter Constance Garcia.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 8, 2020 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel.
