Obituary for Johnny Gutierrez

Johnny G. Gutierrez was born December 13, 1964 to Maria and Jose Gutierrez in Brownsville, Texas. He departed May 12, 2023. Known to his friends and family as “Johnny G” and “Baby Johnny”, he grew up in Waxahachie, Texas as the baby of 11 children. As a child, he was very active and never sat still; that energy was a constant in his life. Johnny made his living as a machine operator, and in the landscaping business. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and grandfather who will forever be remembered as a good man, a good friend and overall - just a good person.

Johnny always had a happy nature and was hard to anger. He enjoyed grilling, being on his brother’s boat, time outdoors, and working on automobiles. A fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. Johnny could often be found having a drink with friends at the bar, or enjoying time spent sitting on the porch. He liked Tejano and country music and was a skilled Tejano dancer. Most of all, Johnny was an excellent friend. He made time for everyone, agreed to any favor asked of him, and was always quick to help.

Johnny was also a believer. Raised in a Catholic household, Johnny believed in Jesus Christ and was sure he will be united with his family once again.

He is preceded in death by Jose Angel Gutierrez Jr, Roger Gutierrez, Maria Teresa Gutierrez Trevino, Elias Ruiz, Manuel Ruiz, and Johnny Ruiz.

Johnny is survived by Arnulfo Gutierrez, Joe Gutierrez, Gilbert Gutierrez, and Javier Ruiz.
