J.W. Smith, age 96, departed on May 16, 2020, in Red Oak, Texas. He was born on June 7, 1923 in Hughes Springs, Texas to his parents, Lillian (Mason) Smith and William Henry Smith. J.W. served in the United States Army during WWII. He was stationed in Italy and France during his service to our Country. J.W. married his wife Wanda and they were married for 52 years up until her passing. He worked for St. Regis Paper Company as a die maker and retired after 45 years with the company. He enjoyed yard work, being outside, puttering around the yard and playing his guitar. He will be missed and forever remembered by his family and loved ones.

J.W. is survived by his children, Mary Ann White and husband Greg, Jack Smith and wife Diane and Jimmy Smith; grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Wes Smith, Christine Smith, Andrew White, and Sam White; great-grandchildren, Madison and Kate and numerous other extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda Smith; son, Ricky Smith; sisters, Betty Hott and Ene Caperton.

A funeral service will be at 2:30 PM on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. Interment will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
