For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Lovie Marie Cockerham Pruitt, of Frost TX passed away peacefully in her home, at the age of 90, on Friday May 22, 2020. Lovie was born in Frost Texas on March 24, 1930 to Sill G. & Olive May Cockerham (Holloway). She grew up in the surrounding areas having to move from place to place, sharecropping with her family picking cotton. At the age of 17 she applied for and was accepted into a special Nursing program that had just started at the Hospital in Waxahachie, where she eventually became the Head Surgical Nurse. Although she later left nursing to raise a family she eventually returned to that which she loved and continued Nursing until she retired at the age of 75.

Lovie Marie’s life cannot be summed up by words, or a few paragraphs written upon paper, because she was so much more. The intricate details of her Love, & giving to others is written upon the Hearts of those who remain, where Love gives Life to her memory, in a place where she will always live.

Lovie is survived by her sons, Lonnie & Dwayne Pruitt; daughter in-law, Cynthia Pruitt, 9 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren, as well as through the memories that are carried by other family members and friends that are left behind.

She is preceded in Death by her parents, Sill and Olive May; her sisters, Lelta, Juanita, Bernice, Virginia, Estelle; her brothers, John D., James, Wallace, James Calvin, John Edgar; her husband of 52 years LaVon; son, Danny; 2 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Boze Mitchel McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie. Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday May 30th in the chapel @ 10:30 AM followed by graveside at Bethel.

In lieu of Flowers, the Family asks that you take a moment and express your Love to those who are still with you.

Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years. People grow old only by deserting their ideals. You are as young as your self confidence, as old as your fear, as young as your hope, as old as your despair.

In the central place of every heart there is a recording chamber, so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer and courage, you are young.

When the wires are all down and your heart is covered with the sorrows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism then and only then are you grown old.

Lovie was a special person, a wonderful aunt and a loving sister to my mother, Juanita Denison. As I sit here and listen to her service, I hear that she was truly loved, a great baker and a Christian, but we all knew that, and those are the things we loved about her.
Thank you, McKibbin Funeral Home for live streaming her service, we appreciate it.

I will miss you Ms. Pruitt. I will never forget the kindness you showed me when I was so I'll and even driving me to the old Waxahachie Baylor Hospital and staying by my side so steady and strong. They don't make nurses like you anymore. Go sing with the angels and rest with the Lord. I will never forget you. With much love, Ruby Pender, your best friend's sister

I have never had the chance to met Lovie, but I know that she loved the butter cookies I was sending from Brittany. ❤️
All my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
Loads of love from overseas.

I first met Marie when we moved in across the street in Lancaster, Tx. Her son and my daughter married and had 2 daughters. I have not seen her in a while, but I remember her fondly. She was always pleasant to me and my family. She will be missed.
