Joshua 24:15:
“….But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

On April 22, 2021, Lydia Martinez at the age of 85 surrounded by her family passed into the presence of her God to spend eternity in Heaven where she will be free of pain and illness. Lydia was a godly woman who loved the Lord with all her heart and set an example for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She left a legacy through her family and friends of God’s amazing love and grace. She was devoted to her husband, Herman Martinez, and joyfully shared her heart and hugs with all of us.

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents Hilario and Leocadia Solis; her beautiful daughter Anna Padilla and husband Bert Padilla; siblings Benjamin Solis; Daniel Solis; Tom Solis; John Solis; Sara Salinas and husband Lorenzo Salinas; Martha Iglesias and husband Augustine Iglesias; Raquel Hernandez; Ruben Solis; and brother-in-law Manuel Ruiz.

Lydia is survived by her loving husband, Herman Martinez, her children: Jay Martinez and wife Ruth Martinez; Debbie Martinez and wife Sabrina Mitchell-Martinez; James Martinez; Jonathan Martinez and wife Jenny Martinez; her grandchildren: Vanessa Vazquez and husband Zachary Vazquez; Jerimiah Padilla and Crystal Coronado; Amber Robles and husband Javier Robles; Elijah Padilla; Aaron Padilla; Andrew Martinez; James Martinez Jr. and wife Camille Martinez; Isaiah Martinez; Erica Martinez; Anthony Rios, Anna Martinez-Gomez and husband Albert Gomez; Crystal Nunez and husband Miguel Nunez; Celeste Martinez; Jayson Martinez and wife Vanessa Martinez; Jeziah Martinez; Joel Martinez; Brian and Aspen Miranda; and her great-grandchildren: Cristian Gonzalez, Jalyn Coronado, Joseph Coronado, Deangelo Robles, Giovanni Robles, Nehemiah Robles, AliciAnna Martinez, Kristina Rios, Isabell Rios, Kaiden Martinez, Tyson Martinez, Nevaeh Gomez, Alexander Gomez, Alexandria Gomez, Liliana Martinez, Sofia Martinez, Leilani Martinez, Jordan Martinez and Gunner Miranda.

Lydia’s surviving siblings include: George Solis and wife Martha Solis; Ruth Lopez and husband Joe Lopez; Mary Ruiz; Naomi Martinez and husband Gilbert Martinez; Sam Solis; sisters-in-law Margaret Solis; Elba Solis; Betty Solis; brother-in-law Rudy Hernandez.

Now to share about the life of our wonderful Lydia Martinez. She was born September 22, 1935, in Kerens, Tx to Hilario and Leocadia Solis. Lydia (also known as “Lilly” growing up) was raised and worked on a farm along with several of her 13 siblings. She attended High School in Palmer, Tx. As a young woman, she was active in her church in Waxahachie, Tx where she met and fell in love with Herman Martinez to whom she has been married for 60 years. Lydia worked for 15 years at Haggar Slacks in Waxahachie before she decided to devote her time and attention to taking care of her husband, raising 5 kids and 5 grandkids. She faithfully committed her life to the Lord serving in the ministry alongside her husband wherever she was needed. She enjoyed doing the Lord’s work, loved reading the Bible, rooting for her Dallas Cowboys, helping not only her family and friends, but anyone who was in need.

We will all miss you, Lydia. Our hearts will all hold on to the special memories we have shared with you. You have inspired us all with your strong faith in God, your compassion, your joy, and lastly your love.

So, do not worry about those whom you loved dearly who have passed on before you. God has them and they are loved and they are treasures in Heaven. For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also; your loved ones are those treasures waiting for you to join them. Because of your Godly influence on your family, many others will follow in the future.

John 14:6
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
