Now to share about the life of our wonderful Lydia Martinez. She was born September 22, 1935, in Kerens, Tx to Hilario and Leocadia Solis. Lydia (also known as “Lilly” growing up) was raised and worked on a farm along with several of her 13 siblings. She attended High School in Palmer, Tx. As a young woman, she was active in her church in Waxahachie, Tx where she met and fell in love with Herman Martinez to whom she has been married for 60 years. Lydia worked for 15 years at Haggar Slacks in Waxahachie before she decided to devote her time and attention to taking care of her husband, raising 5 kids and 5 grandkids. She faithfully committed her life to the Lord serving in the ministry alongside her husband wherever she was needed. She enjoyed doing the Lord’s work, loved reading the Bible, rooting for her Dallas Cowboys, helping not only her family and friends, but anyone who was in need.

We will all miss you, Lydia. Our hearts will all hold on to the special memories we have shared with you. You have inspired us all with your strong faith in God, your compassion, your joy, and lastly your love.

So, do not worry about those whom you loved dearly who have passed on before you. God has them and they are loved and they are treasures in Heaven. For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also; your loved ones are those treasures waiting for you to join them. Because of your Godly influence on your family, many others will follow in the future.

John 14:6
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
