Obituary for Margarita Rodriguez

Margarita Rodriguez was born May 27, 1938 in Munday, Texas to Elvira and Manual Davila. She went home to be with her heavenly Father on March 7, 2022. Margarita was a God-fearing woman, a true Christian all of her life. A longtime member of The Church of God of the Firstborn and Iglesia Fuego, she never wavered and stood strong in her faith. She loved her seven children fiercely and was fortunate to enjoy five generations of grandchildren that included 28 grandkids, 51 great-grandkids and 16 great-great-grandkids.

As a child, she was a daddy’s girl, well behaved and respectful. She loved her parents and worked on her family farm growing up. She had so many special memories of her parents that she regularly shared with her children. Though she did not attend school, she learned many different trades. She was a very talented seamstress, crafting clothes for the entire family. An excellent cook, she was also a gifted baker. Holidays were when her food really shined. Her turkey and dressing with gravy were truly special, and her tamales and beans were the absolute best!

Margarita’s favorite color was lime green; she also enjoyed reading her bible and watching “Little House on the Prairie”. She could often be found singing and tending to her plants. She especially found inspiration with the Billy Graham Show. She loved music and would tap her fingers and move her feet to the beat.

Margarita is preceded in death by her parents Manual and Elvira Davila; son Bobby Joe Rodriguez; brothers Roberto Davila and Alfredo Davila; sisters Ida Mata and Ester Ramos; grandson Gabriel Rivera; and great grandson Jonathan Gabriel Rivera.

She is survived by her 7 children, son: Fidel Jr. Rodriguez, daughter: Beatrice Rodriguez Torres, daughter: Bertha Janas, daughter: Barbara Jaramillo, daughter: Betty Barajas, daughter: Belinda Lowrey, son: Armando Rodriguez and 28 grand kids, 51 great grand kids and 16 great-great grand kids.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday March 10, 2022 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie.
