Obituary for Nancy Kay Galey (Pate)

Nancy Kay Galey, of Italy, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2021at home surrounded by family. She was born on February 12, 1948 in Lubbock, Texas to parents James Doyle Pate and Elise Louise Ruth. In life, Nancy was fun-loving and could make anyone laugh. After living in the Philippines, she moved from Big Springs, Texas to Kansas City where she became an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Nancy married her husband, Staff Sergeant Michael Wayne Galey on March 24, 1972, Michael passed away in 2008. She never made anyone feel less than family and served as a room mother and Den Mother for the Boy Scouts. Her time was best spent volunteering and encouraging her children in the sports they played.


Nancy is survived by her son Jeffrey Galey of Sioux City, Iowa, her daughter Heather Aline Galey, of West Virginia, daughter Tracee Galey of Italy, Texas, grandchildren Jesse Twiford, DaKota Zimmerman, Addison Galey, Kayla Cunningham, Paige Cunningham, Kiara Bueno, and Jamil Bueno, Jr., great-grandchildren Toby Cunningham, and Elyse Zimmerman, Niece Kristi Souder and family, and nephew Justin Galey and wife LeAnne along with their son Corbin.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Michael, her 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the cancer research foundation of your choice.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 6-8 P.M. with a time to share thoughts and memories at 7 P.M. at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Italy, Texas.
