Obituary for Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Dahl

Ronald Wayne Dahl, age 87, passed away at home on Friday May 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 5, 1936. Lillian Dorothy Grousd and Freeman Edward Dahl, his parents, wanted the best for their son; and therefore, sent him to Lane Technical High School where he graduated in 1954. They soon after moved to Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas in 1955. They then moved to Pleasant Grove where he met his wife of 62 years, Jo Ann Fuller.

Jo Ann and Ronnie married on June 2, 1961. They had two boys and then moved to Milford, Texas in 1972 where Ronnie would have extra room for his car hobby. They had their third son, Keith, in Milford, where Ronnie set an example of hard work and dedication to the family. He worked any and every job that would allow him to support and provide a better life for his family. He taught his boys to take pride in everything they did, what they had, the importance of doing what is right, and taking care of others.

Ronnie was known as “Yankee” at the Dallas Morning News, obviously because he was from Chicago, but then was known as “T-Bird” when he worked for Fiberglass. However, no one knows why. He never owned a T-Bird, which may surprise most people who knew Ronnie, as collecting cars was his passion. He was a classic car enthusiast. There is not a question about a car that he could not answer or a conversation he could not direct back to cars.

Because Ronnie worked so much, he was not always around; but when he was, he enjoyed his family. They watched classic Chuck Norris, western and action movies, and had wrapping paper wars at Christmas. When he retired, he moved from action movies to The Hallmark Movie Channel, which speaks how one man can be both tough and sweet at the same time. Ronnie is deeply loved and will be missed.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Dahl; three sons: Wayne Dahl and his wife Susan of Collierville, Tennessee; David Dahl and his wife Dionn of Colleyville, Texas; and Keith Dahl of Waxahachie, Texas; two grandchildren: Ashlei Dahl and Christina Dahl; and sister Danice Lascano and husband Jerry of Corsicana, Texas.
