Obituary for Ruby Lee Radney

Ruby Lee Blackburn Radney was born March 4, 1927 in Richland, Texas to Esther and Joseph Blackburn. Ruby went home to be with her Lord on March 20, 2022. She graduated high school in Kerens, Texas, and married her high school sweetheart Johnnie Radney upon his return from World War II. Johnnie called her Rube. The couple were married on February 16, 1946 and enjoyed 70 years together, two children, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is forever remembered as a loving wife and mother.

Ruby spent her childhood in Rural Shade, Texas and attended the Rural Shade Community one room schoolhouse. She was a homemaker and mother, who enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and especially loved family fishing and hunting trips. Her favorite place was home. You could often find her listening to the Grand Ol’ Opry and big band music. She attended The Avenue Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Sanders Radney; father, Joseph Blackburn; mother, Ester Fannin Blackburn; sister, Rea Harris and brothers Joe Blackburn and Everett Blackburn.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Sandra Darline Blythe and spouse Rick; son Gary Eugene Radney and spouse Jody; grandchildren Chance Blythe and spouse Nicole, and Luke Radney and spouse Shannon; great grandchildren Nash Radney Blythe; Wyatt Robert Radney; Graham Harding Radney; and brother Floyd Blackburn.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 11:00AM also at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Chapel in Waxahachie.
