Obituary for Joe Meyer

Samuel “Joe” Meyer was born July 13, 1967 in Fort Worth, Texas to Elizabeth and James Meyer. He departed on April 10, 2022. Joe is remembered as very kind and loving. The life of the party, he made everyone laugh and smile. He believed any day without laughter was a day wasted.

Joe was adventurous, and hardworking. He made his living as a welder and electrician. He loved the outdoors, especially spending the day with his little brother hunting and fishing. Joe frequented Applebee’s in Grand Prairie and Ellis County Barbecue. He enjoyed trips to the Brazos River and Lake Tawakoni. Easter was always a special celebration for the family where they would go on a camping trip to the Nolan River, hiking in for several miles to get the perfect spot. The week would be spent fishing, listening to music, and as per tradition, watching “The Ten Commandments” on a portable black and white TV. Joe was Christian, and newly baptized.

Joe is preceded in death by his father Jim Meyer, brother James Meyer and grandson Gavin Meyer.

He is survived by his son John Granger and wife Linda Hayes, grandchildren Conner Fruit and Jayden Meyer; daughter Alexis Smith and husband Scott, grand children Cassidy Smith and Hudson Smith; mother Laverne Meyer; sister Julie David and husband David; sister Jan Nitsch; sister June Schauer and husband Dave; sister Jimmie Meyer; and brother Jon Meyer.
