Obituary for Scotty V. Vyers

Scotty Vance Vyers, Sr.
1944-2023

Scotty left this earth on February 14, 2023 to move to his new home with Jesus Christ while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 14, 1944 to Tommy Mitchell & Mary Lee Vyers in Ennis, TX.

Scotty was the most amazing husband, father, papa, and friend to many. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Rosa (Franklin) Vyers. He is also survived by 3 amazing children and their spouses, Vance Vyers (Kim), Tammy Wenzel (Mike), and Nathan Vyers (Lisa). As well as his precious grandchildren, Brad Vyers (Kara), Tyler Vyers (Erika), Kalie Vyers, Lauren Bunting (George), Scott Hartley, Kyle Vyers (Abigail), Kristen Vyers, & Olivia Vyers; and his great grandchildren, Lincoln, Falynn, Bixby, Abel, Emma, Hannah, Eleanor, and Caleb.
He also leaves behind a sister, Tommie Caldwell (Ronnie) and brother, Troy Vyers (Shelly), and a sister-in-law, Ruthie Vyers.

Scotty adored his wife and children but his first love was his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of The Road Church in Ennis, where he loved to serve, welcoming those who came with a handshake or a hug.

Scotty retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers in 2007 and enjoyed retirement to the fullest on his small farm where he loved the outdoors, raising goats, gardening, and sitting on the front porch. He loved to fish, and yearly deer hunts that he enjoyed with his best friend, Nathan.

Scotty joins his son Kevin, mom Mary Lee Hill, dad Tommy Vyers, stepmom Ruth Vyers, and his brother Thomas in heaven.

A celebration of life will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ennis on Friday February 17th at 10am. Visitation will be February 16th from 5pm to 8pm at Boze Mitchel McKibbin Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent as a memorial in Scotty’s name to one of the following:
The Road Church, P.O. Box 8612, Ennis TX 75120
Anthony Drive Baptist Church, P.O Box 9, Ennis, TX 75120
Damascus Road Fellowship Church, 1485 Frank Scott Pkwy West, Belleville, IL 62223

The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice for the loving care they gave Scotty during his short illness.
