Obituary for Sherry E. Summers
Sherry Elaine Summers was born August 21, 1959 to Casperetta and Sidney Griffith in Pineville, West Virginia. She departed on July 31, 2022. Sherry married Steve Summers and the couple have enjoyed 45 years together, two children, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her favorite place to be was with her family, next to Steve.
Sherry fiercely loved her people; a worrier she was always willing to solve problems. She spent much of her adult life as a Safety Coordinator at Dart. Outside of work she enjoyed tablet games, reading, time with her dog Lilly and working in the yard. She excelled at always making sure the family was taken care of, and never passed up a chance to keep them fed. Dallas Cowboy games were especially delicious, as her pot roast, always fall apart tender, and cornbread were the absolute best!
She is preceded in death by her parents, Casperetta and Sidney Griffith.
Sherry is survived by her beloved husband Steve Summers; daughter Jessica Grubbs and husband Bobby; son Steven Summers and husband Christopher Valdez; grandchildren Zackary Steven Strength, Breanna Nycole Strength, Tiffany Lenae Strength, and Dylan Gene Grubbs; great grandchild Jack Castle; sister Carol Kurmis and brother Sidney Griffith.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral home chapel in Waxahachie.
Services to celebrate Sherry’s life will follow on August 4, 2022 at 6:00pm also at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral home chapel.
