Obituary for Shirley Rae Johnson (Warren)

Shirley Rae Johnson [ our Mother / Granny / GG ] passed away May 14, 2022 in Waco Texas. She is at peace and pain free. She was born June 1, 1927 in Dallas Texas, the daughter of George A. and Mary Edith Warren.
Shirley graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas at the age of 16, class of 1943. Following graduation she started working for National Theater Supply till 1951. While there she was known for her accurate math skills tallying money sales. Later she worked as office manager for Dr Dutton in Waxahachie and in Dallas for well over 10 years. Shirley was gifted with playing the piano and started playing at a very young age. Playing by ear with only a few lessons she played for numerous weddings throughout the years. She was the pianist for the First Baptist Church in Waxahachie and went on to play for the Men's Downtown Bible class for as long as her hands and eyesight would allow. She loved playing the piano ! In 1992 she retired form AT & T as a phone operator.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband Edward Lee Johnson. She is survived by her brother, Charles P. Warren of Lakeland Florida. And her children Edward Warren Johnson, wife Melody, of Robinson, Texas, Sharon Rae Johnson of Moody, Texas, Susan Denise Allen, husband Donny, of Moody, Texas, and David Wayne Johnson, wife Linda, of Farmers Branch, Texas. Grandchildren Miranda Kurtz, Stephanie Taylor, Michael Allen, Kevin Allen, Sean Johnson and Philip Johnson. Great grand children Kaleb Kurtz, Kade Kurtz, Jacob Taylor, Grant Taylor, Cooper Taylor, Baylee Allen, Blaine Allen, Brooke Allen, Hilary Ramos, Ashley Hankins and Kelly Hoff. Great great grand child Riley Ramos plus a few on the way.
Wanting to live closer to her family, Shirley moved 5 years ago from Waxahachie to Stilwell Retirement Center in Waco.
Graveside only service will be held June 5, 2022 at 10 am at Laurel Land in Dallas, Texas
The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Retina Foundation of the Southwest, 9600 N. Central Expressway, Suite 200, Dallas Texas, 75231
