Obituary for Stanley Stubblefield

Stanley Stubblefield, 65, of Red Oak, TX, transitioned to his heavenly home on April 24, 2021, to be with the Lord.

The worth of a man is not measured in the number of years he lives, but in the quality of the life he lived. Stanley was a Christmas baby born to parents of the late Willie Neil Stubblefield, Senior, and Bobbie Ruth Stubblefield on December 25, 1955.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in Dallas, TX where he played cornerback on the football team. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Houston. While in college, Stanley became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc. and acquired the nickname “Crunch.” Stanley had a long career in Food Service Management. He then worked at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Facilities Management for 14 years before sickness led to retiring.

He met and married Joyce Marie Forbes, the love of his life, in 1982 and they were married for over 38 years before his passing. Stanley was a Christian man. He was an active and devoted member of Munger Place United Methodist Church in Dallas for over 35 years where he faithfully served in a variety of Helps Ministries. Also, while working at SMU, he enjoyed dining out and regularly attended social events and the SMU Football games.

Stanley was known for his love of cooking, bike riding, exercising, yard work, and he loved to bird watch. He had a vast knowledge of and great passion for sports, and he valued the personal relationships he developed with his neighbors of over 30 years. The neighbors meant so much to him. His favorite color was red. He loved jazz music, and his favorite movies were The Shawshank Redemption and It’s A Wonderful Life. His favorite TV show was The Three Stooges.

He is preceded in death by his father Willie Neil Stubblefield, Sr. Stanley is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joyce, daughter, Brittny R. Stubblefield, son, Stanley J. Stubblefield, mother, Bobbie Ruth Stubblefield, brothers, Willie Neil Stubblefield, Jr. (Cynthia) and Kenneth Stubblefield (Peggy), sister Patricia A. McCullar, nieces, Brandi Stubblefield, and Ashley Stubblefield Macgabbhan (Brandon), and a host of cousins and relatives.

He will be remembered by his family for being a sincere, loving, and caring man. He had a love for frying turkeys on the holidays and that was always appreciated by his loved ones. Brittny will cherish all her memories of her Dad especially when he taught her how to drive a stick shift, and Stanley will cherish the special moments they played outside, and he tickled him on his feet.
