Obituary for Sydnah Evelyn Boyd (Simmons)

Sydnah Evelyn (Simmons) Boyd, age 93, passed into eternity on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, with her family at her side.

She was born November 25, 1929 in Dallas to Jesse Roy and Fannie Blanche (McCullough) Simmons. She received Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age and walked with Him for always. Music was a huge part of her entire life. She loved playing the piano and organ, a ministry to churches she attended her entire life. She will be remembered as a loving piano teacher even into her eighties. She played for children's choirs, weddings, funerals, rotary clubs and civic events. At the time of her death she was active playing for a group that sang every Friday at the Waxahachie Senior Center and they monthly took their ensemble to local nursing homes and performed for the residents. Most recently, she served as the "Official Church Corresponder", daily writing notes to the entire congregation, recognizing birthdays, anniversaries, and sending words of encouragement as she prayed for each recipient.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.D. Boyd; children David and Lisa; brothers Roy, Ernest and Robert.

She is survived by her daughter, Jenette and husband Rick Crabb of Waxahachie; sons Brian Keith Boyd, and wife Becky, of Henderson; Bruce Boyd, and wife Judi, of Lake Dallas; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends that she loved and who made her life have purpose. She has finished her race and has heard her Savior say to her "well done, good and faithful servant".

A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 PM, Grace Church of Ovilla, January 22, 2023. She will be interred in the family plot in Pflugerville, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, if you choose, the family asks that a donation be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, her favorite charity.
