Obituary for Willa Wheatley

Willa Mae Wheatley passed away in Sunnyvale, TX. on February 27, 2021. Willa was born on August 23, 1934 to Ottis and Evie Marsh of Soper, Oklahoma. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

She was the loving wife of Bobby Wheatley for fifty-two years. She was absolutely the best Mother to John, Carla, Sandra, and Barbara and somehow managed to improve on that to be an even better grandmother and great- grandmother. She is the gold-standard for mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers. She never tired of being with family and/or holding a baby.

Willa was raised on a farm in Oklahoma where the address was Mud Sand Route. After graduating from Soper High School she moved to Dallas, TX. as a nanny for a family there. She held various jobs outside the home including inventory clerk for Federal Mogul, Day care worker, school cafeteria worker, and retired from the Dallas County Child Support Office. She loved work and always found a way to contribute to the family. When not working outside the home she was an in-home babysitter and did a lot of ironing for her family and others.

Willa loved spending time with her family. She deeply enjoyed taking care of those she loved. Her greatest joy was to be with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she cherished every moment together. Her legacy is and will always be, love of family and others.

Willa loved gardening as long as it was in flower beds. She loved to feed everybody and could cook the best fried anything you would ever want to eat and Rotel always makes a casserole better. She said often, "I like to cook but I love to see people eat."

Willa was preceded in death by her parents Ottis and Evie Marsh, loving husband Bobby Wheatley, three brothers, Leo Marsh, Bill Marsh, and Jerry Marsh.

Willa is survived by two sisters: Jeanine Love and Inez Taylor and husband Bill; two brothers: Odell Marsh, Bobby Marsh and wife Charlotte; four sisters in law: Maudie Bolfing, Betty Wheatley, Billie Sue Wheatley, and Norma Marsh; four children: John and wife Jean of Valley Mills, TX, Carla and husband Chuck of Forney, TX, Sandra and husband Gereal of Forney, TX, Barbara and husband Tony of Terrell, TX. thirteen grandchildren: Shannon, Amanda, Jonna, Mariah, Morgan, Audra, Jared, Bobby, BreAnne, Ryan, Clint, Callie, and Claire.

Willa also has twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Many nieces, nephews and friends.

It must also be said that if you are a spouse of anyone in this family, she loved you as her very own.
