Obituary for William Edward Dykes
William (Bill) was born on June 14, 1944 in Dallas TX at Florence Nightingale Hospital to Gloria G Long Dykes and Charles C Dykes. Bill attended Oak Cliff schools and would have been a 1962 Sunset Bison Graduate. The Family moved to Lubbock and Bill attended his Sr. year at Monterrey High School.
Bill was a 1966 graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Bill spent the first part of his career with Republic and One Main Banks in Dallas. The later part of his career Bill could be seen greeting and seating the guests of S&D Oyster House on McKinney Avenue.
Bill was an avid Golfer and Snow Skier, but his main passion was the stock market, and trading silver futures.
Bill was a reservist for the United States Army from February 1967 – 1973. He was an E5 and was in the 980th Engineering Battalion. He was a long time member of Highland Park Methodist, Dallas and Custer Road Methodist in Plano.
Bill is proceeded in death by Gloria G Dykes, Mother, Charles C Dykes, Father, Donald P Dykes, Brother and James Alan Dykes, Son.
He was survived by his sisters Judith Mais and husband Charles, Charlene Russell and husband Jimmy; nephew Jeffery Boyd; niece Emily Bustos and husband Richard; seven great nieces and nephews and many beloved cousins.
Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Cleburne Memorial Park Cemetery in the Shannon Family Plot.
