Obituary

Bill Marshall, 64 drew his final earthly breath surrounded by loving family and friends in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 29, 2020. Bill was born January 17, 1956 in Fort Dix (Burlington County), New Jersey to parents Leroy Everett and Maxine Doris (Perrine) Marshall. His parents preceded him in death as did his sister, Karen Odell.

Bill was known for his kindness and generosity as well as for his love of music. He graduated from East Texas Baptist College (now East Texas Baptist University) with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and later completed his Master of Education from ETBC. Bill played piano and keyboards for The Singing Men of Texas in both Southeast & North Central Texas chapters. Most recently, he played keyboards for First Baptist Church of Waxahachie.

Bill began his music career at Heights Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas as Minister of Music. He held similar positions with First Baptist Church of West Columbia, First Baptist Church of Crockett, First Baptist Church of Harlingen and First Baptist Church of La Porte, Texas.

Bill was particularly proud of his tenure at Rainbow Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio and enjoyed tremendous success working on musical productions while living in La Porte. He worked diligently teaching soloists and chorus members of La Porte High School and their music productions. These musicals held annually involved upwards of 200 students whom Bill was able to prepare for their performances. Three sold-out weekends of shows each year included the likes of Broadway hits My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie Get Your Gun, Lil’ Abner and The Music Man.
Bill owned and operated the UPS Store in Waxahachie and was an advocate for Business Network International (BNI). And while his business interests and music were an important part of Bill’s life, nothing held a higher priority than his family and time spent with them. He was especially fond of his granddaughter Caroline Rose Marshall, affectionately known as “Papa’s Rose.”

Bill is survived by daughter Candace Welling of Kasota, Minnesota; son Joshua and his wife Amanda Marshall; granddaughter Caroline Rose Marshall all of Frisco, Texas; brother John and his wife Donna Marshall of Fairview, Texas; nephews Daniel and Kyle Marshall of Lewisville, Texas and, dear friend James Robbins of Waxahachie, Texas.

A memorial service to honor and remember Bill will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 6, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie, 450 E. US 287, Waxahachie, Texas. Service arrangements are under the direction of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home, 511 W. Main Street, Waxahachie, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family requests that donations may be made to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church of Waxahachie.
